How to Hide Business Address on Google My Business

This guide will show how you can hide your business address on Google and do it correctly, with step by step screenshots. Also, why sometimes you cannot remove it.

You may want to hide your address because:

  • you work from a home office
  • your business location is not used to meet customers
  • make sure your business follow Google’s rules

How To hide/remove your address on Google My Business

  1. Sign in to Google My Business.
  2. On the main menu, click “Info”.
  3. Go to the address field and click on the pencil.
  4. At the bottom of the editor, click “Clear address”
  5. Finally, click Apply.

Click on the Apply button

Once you clear your business address, your business profile will start to show your service areas.

If you didn’t add service areas before, a local area will be chosen for you by default.

However, you should add your own service areas and below I show you how.

How to Add Service Areas on Google My Business

  1. In the service area section, click on the pencil to edit.
  2. Enter your service areas, add up to 20 areas. You can set your service area based on the Cities, Counties, States, Zip/Post codes, etc
  3. Click Apply.

Click on the Apply button

You are not allowed to remove/clear the address

If you are getting a message telling you the category you chose requires an address the public can visit, you can see here more about this issue.

For an immediate fix, you may have to set up another category that accepts Service Area Businesses.
