The most important thing to remember is that you need to bring the community together.
Some ideas:
- create a business association/club to help promote the local business and the local area
- a website for the local area and should include:
- local businesses directory split into business categories
- local landmarks and tourist spots, what to do, where to go
- each local business should have a page with the summary of what they do and offer, contact details, driving directions and offers and links to their website if they have one
- a page for local offers, discounts
- links to social pages/groups of the local area
- newsletter sign up
- create a newsletter to promote local businesses’ offers and discounts and promote local events
- local businesses should join forces and give discounts/offers to other local businesses whenever a customer buys something. Example: Book shop could give a coupon for a free muffin at the local coffee shop if they buy a cappuccino there and the coffee shop could give a 10% discount voucher for the local hairdresser, etc. Keeping the money in the local economy
- create #standlocal #shoplocal campaigns with posters and guerilla marketing/word of mouth marketing techniques, in other words, be remarkable and unexpected
- Create unique events, example community “Olympic” games
Be remarkable!
