If you received an email informing you that your appeal was not approved after your Google Business Profile was suspended or disabled and you submitted a reinstatement request through the appeals tool, you may be wondering what to do next.

In this article, I’ll go through the current appeals process, as it’s a fairly new process, and Google has indicated that they will be changing it as feedback is received.

The Appeal Denial Decoding

This is the email you are likely to receive:

Unfortunately, this reason “Content that violates our policies on deceptive content and behavior isn’t allowed. Deceptive content intentionally misleads or deceives others” is misleading and looks like a template as I have seen it in all denials and the issues with the profiles were not related to content violations or restriction policy.

Even worse, when you click on the link to the restriction policy, and it makes no sense, hopefully Google will change this in the future.

You will need to check the guidelines once again to understand why it was denied or I can take a look

How Can You Appeal This Denial

After checking the guidelines as I advised above, please gather as much proof of the business existence, then you have 2 routes:

• Ask a GBP expert to help and we can still escalate cases (for now at least) – GBP Reinstatement Service
• Open a new thread on the Google Business Profile Community Forum to be escalated to the Google Business Profile Team
  • On the thread text field:
    • Advise that you request reinstatement through the appeal tool
    • Advise the case id
    • Add the link to a Google Document you will have to create with the case details, screenshots of the Info section of the Google business profile and proof documents
    • Not put any image or proof on the thread text field, all images should be on the Google Doc
